Eat, Play, Love

Another amazing day today! Our entire team tonight expressed in one form or another such great thankfulness for the blessing of being able to come to Haiti and just spend time with the incredible people here - the kids, all the staff at Maison de Lumiere and the added bonus of meeting and sharing the week with the other Americans staying in the guest house. We all feel as if we are being given so much more than we are offering.

In short, today's themes were: EAT. PLAY. LOVE. Well take them in that order.

EAT
The food here is delicious and has been prepared by the staff at the guest house. Beans, rice, fried plantains, pizza, sandwiches, salad, fruit, these ladies are all over it. Today after church we had the opportunity to go eat with much of the Maison de Lumiere community at the Manaserro's home - it was such as great time of connection and yummy goodness. It is amazing how food sets the stage for building strong relationships and community with others.

PLAY
Wow did we play today! Soccer, basketball, jump rope, swings, bubbles and of course angry birds (Julie's iPhone has become quite the item with the boys)! We had so much fun with the kids at the park this afternoon hanging out and running around with these beautiful children. The photos below really speak for themselves.

Time to PLAY!!

Someone's got hops!

Bubbles!!

LOVE
We started the day feeling the love at Port-au-Prince Christian Fellowship - it was a great service that started and ended with with totally rocking worship music! (check in with us tomorrow for a post on getting to church...a process that would make CHP cringe).

The worship band, rocking it out!

And then for really the rest of the day we got to share and receive the love from the kids who honestly are so incredible, despite the devastating stories we have heard about their pasts on the street, in abusive situations and being abandoned by most of the adults in their lives. The photo below of Andrea kinda sums that up.

More to come tomorrow on the blog - we hope to post a few times throughout the day on a variety of topics along with an end of the day wrap up post like this one.

Thank you all for your support and prayers - whatever you're doing, it's working...these past two days have been more than we ever could have expected or planned for.
